This year’s QRMFN Family Program provided a range of exciting options for rural spouses, partners and children, with many opportunities to catch up with old friends and new. We experienced the beauty of Mackay and its surrounding areas on our social outings to Forest Flying at Finch Hatton Gorge, the Sarina Sugar Shed, and Bluewater Lagoon.

It was great to also be able to use the wonderful facilities of the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre for our family activities during the Welcome Reception and Conference Opening sessions, as well as our Kismet Workshop featuring belly dancing and costume and prop making in preparation for the Magical Arabian Night on Saturday. Sunday’s activities proved to be a highlight with exciting circus workshops at which participants had great fun learning and performing new skills like clowning, juggling, hula hooping, & acro-balance. We also enjoyed catching up and sharing experiences and ideas at the QRMFN High Tea and Ideas Forum that afternoon. During pre-dinner drinks our young circus performers entranced and amazed us with their skills, before having their own Circus Evening while their parents (and grandparents in one case!) enjoyed the wonderful Conference Dinner.
